What plugins were updated - I'll need to roll them back.
We intentionally leave the plugins as part of the four month review under the maintenance cycle. This is to avoid coding conflicts that occasionally happen with plugin updates.
Let me know which ones were updated and I'll start that process now.
Cormac here! Many thanks for the prompt reply. Crisis averted, managed to get it going again. I deactivated all the plugins and reactivated one by one. I think its one of two plugins.. The 'ManageWP - Worker' which I have left inactive. I think I read somewhere during the week that it had a rogue line of code or something but they were addressing it or the Redux Framework which came with the theme and drives the menus and slideshow on top of posts and pages.
If you get a chance, you might look into those two plugins and identify which one was causing the issue or indeed if it was either of them or something else. ManageWP is still off and Redux Framework needs an update. I don't want to go near either but you might check them out when you get a chance. I have attached a screenshot of legacy inactive plugins that are still there but are not activated anymore. Used to use them but not anymore. Perhaps we could delete them?
What I did last night was roll back all of the plugins to as
they were at 00:05 on 9th August.
I realise now that you were in there at the same time, so I
think we got quite lucky not to bugger the whole thing up between us.
Because the issue arose yesterday (09th) and the
plugins from the 8th (well, 5 minutes into the 9th) were
restored, I have compared the WP Worker plugin on the 8th with the
version on the 9th and there is no difference in the code (or
version) whatsoever. On that basis, we can rule out this plugin as being
part of the cause.
The issue appears to be only with the Redux Framework.
It is possible that another plugin issue has contributed, but it is very
unlikely.
The Redux Framework is not working harmoniously with both
the theme and the PHP version (version 7.0). As such I have not updated
it and recommend leaving it as is for the time being.
As part of the four monthly cycle, we will review the
plugins (and the core) again in early October, including the Redux Framework
plugin. The only time we deviate from that schedule is when a plugin
update is essential from a security point of view. We receive this
information from a paid feed to which we subscribe and it informs our
maintenance / security plan.
My recommendation is to leave the plugin updates to us so
that we can take account of all factors and apply these during the cyclical
updates. If you prefer to do the updates yourselves, that is absolutely
fine. All I would suggest there is that you tell us in advance, so that we
can make sure that we can test the restore point for data integrity, thereby
giving us a viable rollback in the event that something goes wrong with any of
your updates.
My website isnt showing any text in the articles. I updated the plug ins today so not sure if that is the reason. Can you help urgently please?

Hi Sarah,
A large number of the plugins are currently set to inactive. Is someone else working on this problem?
Thanks,
Julian

Hi Sarah & Cormac,
I've sent the following via email also...
Thanks for the details in the ticket.
